If you were born and educated in the west and in the 20th century, you are almost certain to assume that 20th Century levels of Rising Disposable Income, Globalisation and Planetary Stability is the norm. No matter how far we deviate from this norm for how long, we still believe that our system will ultimately self correct.

So ingrained is this thinking, that the longer we deviate, rather than question assumptions, we instead become even more certain that next year, norms have to return.
